Xiaomi has finally launched the new Redmi A4 5G smartphone in the Indian market which promises a new outlook for budget phones in the country. The Redmi phone is powered by the new Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm, which has been widely talked about in the last few months. The Redmi A4 5G promises a host of upgrades in the sub-Rs 10,000 bracket, allowing more people to experience features that were not available in the range before.
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi A4 5G in India with a starting price of Rs 8,499 for the base 4GB + 64GB model, going up to Rs 9,499 if you want the 4GB + 128GB variant. Redmi A4 5G sale in India starts from November 27.
The new Redmi phone sports a 6.88-inch display that offers HD+ screen resolution but with 120Hz refresh rate. The screen gets a water drop notch which is common in this price range. Redmi A4 5G gets a glass body and comes with a thickness of 8.2mm and weighs 212 grams because of the built-in 5,160mAh battery.
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chipset with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage which is further expandable with a microSD card. The device comes with a single 50MP rear camera and a 5MP front shooter. Being a budget phone means you get the headphone jack as well. You also get the Android 14-based HyperOS version on the phone, with the promise of 2 more OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates from the company.
The device supports Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5 and all the 5G bands for connectivity. And yes, it is a dual-SIM phone. The battery supports 18W charging speed via USB C port but you get a 33W charger in the box, and for security you have the side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
