YouTube is constantly evolving, consistently introducing new features and updates to enhance the viewing experience for its vast user base. Yet again, the tech giant has rolled out new experiments and features that give premium users even more options to enhance how they watch their favourite content. From creator shows to music videos to podcasts, these enhancements cater to a wide range of content.

The platform recently shared about the same in a blog post. They read, “Exploring one new feature is never enough. Starting today, premium members can now opt into multiple experimental features.

YouTube Premium New Features

High-quality audio: The first feature added in the platform is that the premium members will now be able to indulge in enhanced audio experiences with the introduction of high-quality 256 kbps audio on music videos. This feature offers greater clarity and depth to the users.

Picture-in-Picture for YouTube Shorts: Another interesting feature is the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode for YouTube Shorts. This feature allows you to watch your favourite Shorts even while browsing other apps or checking messages on an iOS device.

Smart Downloads for YouTube Shorts: You will now get recommended Shorts automatically selected and downloaded for offline viewing on your iOS device.

Jump ahead on the web: The “Jump Ahead" feature, which was previously available on mobile devices, now lets users seamlessly skip ahead to the most interesting parts of a video while browsing on the web.

Faster playback speeds on mobile: You will soon be able to have more control over your viewing experience with upcoming expanded playback speed options, offering speeds up to 4x on mobile devices.

Other than this, YouTube is also introducing Ask Music and Conversational AI on iOS in the future.

Ask Music: This feature allows you to describe the kind of music they are in the mood to listen. Whether it’s upbeat workout tracks, relaxing jazz, or new indie discoveries, Ask Music will generate a personalised radio station filled with the users’ favorites and exciting new finds.

Conversational AI on iOS: This assistive tool will be able to answer questions about the video users are watching, suggest related content, and more. This all will be done without interrupting users’ playback experience.

YouTube further mentioned in its blog post that they have rolled out a new offer in the US that allows users to save on YouTube Premium when purchased with a Google One Premium plan or higher. You can also enjoy ad-free YouTube, 2 TB cloud storage with Google One, and other Google One member benefits at a reduced price.
