US President Donald Trump passed an executive earlier this week which allowed TikTok to continue working in the country less than 24 hours after the platform was banned. Decisions like these forced the industry to act immediately which meant Apple and Google had to remove the TikTok app and other ByteDance-linked apps from their App stores.

But even though the ban has been rescinded in the US, most iPhone and Android users are still not finding TikTok on the app stores and only able to use the app if they had already installed it on their device. So, why haven’t Apple and Google reintroduced the app back for their users to download?

Experts in the domain have been quoted saying the legal complexities of orders like these have a big role in this situation. Multiple lawyers in this 9to5Mac report have mentioned that companies like Apple need an airtight clearance to allow apps back on the app store, even if Trump has issued an order which is of the highest order.

They explain that orders like these can be challenged in the Court, which could put Apple or Google in trouble if they decide to republish apps, in this case, TikTok and could be heavily penalised for doing so.

To be fair, Apple in its post said, it is obligated to follow the laws in the jurisdictions where it operates, which is the United States in this case and the current situation is just simple logic on its front. After all, one lawyer in the report even says that Trump could easily roll back the order to unban TikTok, so it might be a while before people in the US are able to install TikTok from the respective app stores.

Meanwhile, Trump could have his own interests in place to keep TikTok running in the country. New reports say the US President wants to save TikTok from going out of the country but only if the platform is happy to be run by the US government. He even seems to have mentioned the prospect of imposing heftier tariffs on China if the TikTok deal is not approved.
