The Indian government has issued a notice to Apple over its ongoing performance issues faced by iPhone users in the country after installing the new iOS 18 update. The details about this notice and the status have been shared by Pralhad Joshi, Consumer Affairs Minister on Thursday.

The notice has been issued by the Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) for the alleged issues and is seeking a response from Apple, he said in a post on X. Joshi also adds that many consumers have shared their concerns on the National Consumer Helpline regarding the performance issues in iPhones, and now they are asking Apple to respond to the issues allegedly faced by the users in the country.

We have also read about the apparent performance issues faced by iPhone users after installing the iOS 18 update that rolled out in September 2024. The issues have been highlighted via a survey by LocalCircles earlier this month, where people said they have faced connectivity issues that have resulted in call drops and some even have talked about their iPhone battery draining faster.

The survey mentioned that 6 out of 10 iPhone users are noticing network and call drop issues in the country and it seems most of these people have shared their grievances via the helpline which has now come under the radar of the government department.

Apple sees India as one the highest growing markets for its business and reports say it has already entered the top 5 ranks in the country. iPhone issues are not isolated and the government has previously sought response from Apple over its continued vulnerability threats for millions of devices.

The government even highlighted these concerns via its security agency Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In who warned the users about the security risks and made them possible targets for hackers.
