A web version of the Grok AI chatbot is now available from Elon Musk’s AI startup, xAI. Anyone can use this new version without requiring an account on social networking platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The web app is also in beta version and you can access it from Grok.com. It has features similar to the ones that you get on the iOS app which includes creation of images, question responses, and information collection in real-time.

Grok offers a variety of modes, including Auto, Visualise, and Search, that allow users to manipulate its results. With its increased accessibility, Grok will be able to directly compete with other well-known AI chatbots, such as ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini.

Grok Web Version: How It Works

Users do not need an X account to use the Grok website, just like they can with the iOS app. When users click the “Sign In" button, they have the option to log in using Google or email or link their X account.

Like the free plan, users who log in without an X Premium account will be subject to similar restrictions, such as 10 image generations every two hours, three image analysis credits daily, and four image generations daily.

Once users have logged in, they can activate “Temporary Mode" by clicking on the ghost icon located in the upper-right corner. When enabled, the following notice appears beneath the input box: “This chat is temporary and won’t appear in your history or be used to train models. We may securely retain it for up to 30 days for safety purposes."

Users will see a link to their chat history and a simple settings menu next to the ghost icon. They can pick from the Light, Dark, or System themes at the bottom of the settings screen to customise their appearance.

Grok has now made its AI tools available to a larger audience by going beyond its original offering for X Premium users and launching a free model and dedicated website.

In addition to providing access in settings where social media may be limited, including corporate or educational networks, this move will satisfy users who prefer a targeted online experience.
