Netflix Prices Are Going Up Again: Should Indian Users Worry?
Google is now offering Gemini AI integration for Maps users. These AI-driven features powered by Gemini are designed to deliver more relevant information during navigation and to provide users with curated suggestions for exploring their surroundings and discovering activities. The tech giant has also introduced an innovative Immersive View feature, which displays nearby attractions and weather conditions when planning trips to new destinations. Currently, these features are being rolled out in the US, with plans for expansion to additional locations in the future.
Inspiration
The AI-powered Inspirations feature in Maps enables users to ask Google Maps about “things to do" in a specific area using Gemini AI models to generate relevant information. For instance, if you’re travelling to a new location with friends, you can ask Google Maps for “fun things to do with your friends" to see curated results. Users can also enquire about live music events, shows or any other information.
Improved Route Planning
Next is an upgraded Navigation feature that now displays lanes, crosswalks, and road signs on the map, assisting users in navigating unfamiliar routes. It will also indicate the lane a vehicle should be in, helping to avoid the hassle of merging at the last moment. Users can discover landmarks, dining spots, and scenic areas along their routes. Also, travelers can report and view weather disruptions, such as flooded or unploughed roads, during their journeys. The new Arrival Guidance feature indicates parking options near destinations and prompts users to save their parking spots.
Immersive View
Lastly, the AI-powered Immersive View update on Google Maps, according to Gadgets 360, will help users gather information about weather and traffic conditions for the day and time they plan to visit. The update will also indicate where to park and alert users to upcoming complex turns.
Google will be rolling these features for Android and iOS devices this week. But the Enhanced Navigation will be available in over 30 metropolitan areas next month.
