Apple’s iPhone 17 series launch is long away but the internet is full of rumours and news about the upcoming models. The iPhone SE 4 will probably steal all the limelight if Apple manages to launch it with AI and other premium features for a modest price, but the iPhone 17 promises equal interest for varied reasons.

The basic iPhone versions have missed out on the high refresh rate display for years but 2025 could be the year when Apple changes that for good.

iPhone 17 With 120Hz Display: Big News Finally?

Yes, that’s what new reports have once again mentioned about the iPhone 17 and the 17 Plus/Slim variants. Having an LTPO OLED panel will give these iPhone models the same feature as the Pro versions without costing that much. We’ve already seen the iPhone 15 get the Dynamic island on the screen, and ProMotion is the next logical upgrade to be passed on to all the models.

The ProMotion displays on the iPhone made its debut with the 13 Pro models, and was widely expected to be part of the full iPhone 16 lineup, which didn’t turn out to be true. However, Apple is expected to offer some big upgrades with the 2025 iPhone lineup, so moving the regular models to the ProMotion list has to be one of its focus.

High refresh rate screens have been offered on Android for years, and you can get them on phones for as low as Rs 20,000 ($240 approx). And Apple’s absence with the technology has surprised people over the years, which we are hoping gets finally fulfilled in 2025 with the upcoming iPhone 17 series.

But these upgrades could invariably allow Apple to increase the price of the models, which we really hope doesn’t happen. Either way, we’re eager to see if Apple does finally make this upgrade and bring more people onto the iPhone bandwagon.
