Apple is reportedly working on a new generation of vision-based products, including smart glasses and AirPods with built-in cameras, as part of its growing focus on wearable technology and augmented reality, according to a report by Mark Gurman. These devices are expected to hit the market by 2027, although their development and official release have not yet been confirmed.

These devices are intended to expand on the company's significant investment in visual intelligence, which was first debuted with the Apple Vision Pro and later integrated into the iPhone 16's camera control functions.

Smart Glasses

After the Vision Pro AR device, Apple could introduce its first-ever Smart glasses, which might be similar to the Meta Ray Ban smart glasses. It might feature built-in cameras, speakers and microphones. As compared to the full-fledged augmented reality (AR) glasses, Apple's device is expected to focus on gathering media and giving basic smart functionalities rather than offering immersive AR experiences to the users.

Reportedly, the company is planning to launch the product to compete with Meta Ray Ban’s smart glasses, which come with a price tag of $299 ( Rs 25,300 approx).

AirPods With Camera

Apart from the glasses, the company is also expected to introduce a new significant update to their AirPods. The device might come integrated with a camera. However, details about the same are yet to be revealed. While smart glasses are a more obvious choice for embedding visual intelligence due to their position on the face, which allows for natural photo and video capture, equipping AirPods with cameras raises concerns regarding usability and visual appeal.

The decision to introduce these devices seems to be part of Apple's broader effort to recover its investment in the Apple Vision Pro, which represents a significant jump in the company's goals for AR and visual intelligence.

However, an official confirmation about the development of these flagship devices from the tech giant is still awaited.

In other news, the tech giant is also expected to introduce the new MacBook Air with M4 chipset between January and March 2025 and we might not see it get many design changes.
